I couldn't be happier with the service prices by Jeramy. He shoeless up on time and gave me a very reasonable quote to replace the door I hit with my car. I upgraded and added windows at a better price than I ever expected. The manufacturer didn't include the windows but he installed the door without the windows so I had a door to use while we waited. When the panel came in he came right out and replaced it and it looks great

I used the coupon in the mail to get a good deal on service. Lubed up and made the opener more quiet. I stick with these guys.

I called Hansen yesterday afternoon when we discovered our garage door would not open. My husband realized that the spring had broke in two and the door would got go up. I called and left three messages. as of today at at 2:52 pm, I still have not got a return call. I call another company, they have come and gone with same day service. A+ for them.

I'm very happy with Hanson Overhead Garage Door Service. I had my opener replaced in 2019 and we talked about the aging coil that supports the garage door itself. But seeing everything was working, we left it be. Yesterday the coil finally bit the dust. Fortunately the door didn't crash down on me or my vehicle, but I was now virtually homebound without being able to get my vehicle out of the garage. I called the owner as soon as it happened and he had a guy out here later that afternoon to fix it. You couldn't ask for better service than that! Bless Darren Vila and all his crew!
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 9, 2019Previous reviewI really appreciated Darren (the owner) taking my call, giving me a fair quote for a garage door opener and came right on time. He pointed things out to me to have me keep an eye on without trying to sell me a bill of goods and I really appreciated the advice and installation. After reading some of these negative reviews, I noticed NONE of them were in 2019. This guy and his team have their act together (maybe under new management?). I would recommend them for sure!

Really hate to write a negative review for a business especially during these challenging times but feel that others should know about our experience so they can make informed decisions when deciding on a repair service. Our daughter closed the garage door not realizing her car was still not all the way in and caused damage to the top panel of the door (the panel buckled and a window broke. It also pulled away from the opener). Sadly enough we had this happen to another door several years ago so I am familiar with what had to be done. Basically replace the top panel and reattach the door to the opener. We called Hanson's because they had serviced one of the doors previously and we were satisfied with their work then. I was out and about when the estimator showed up and was glad I was sitting down when she texted me that it was going to take 15 weeks (!!!!) for them to get a replacement panel and that they were recommending replacement of BOTH doors (three car garage) even though the other one was just fine. Apparently the company that makes the doors has switched hands several times and the panel would likely not be available. This is what my wife told me exactly multiple times and the man left a written estimate for about 3 grand so there is no misunderstanding here. I of course called another company who sent an estimator out same day. He chuckled a little, apparently they see this thing a lot with the door damage. I did not tell him about the Hanson estimate because I wanted to see what he would say. He told me that the company who made the door no longer made that exact panel but they made a few that would likely work and he would send me an estimate. Got the estimate by email the next day. It was for replacement panel, attach the opener and repair parts as needed. 800 bucks. Two to three weeks for delivery of the panel and installation. When the Hanson supervisor (could be manager or owner, not sure) called me this afternoon to ask about their quote I told him about his technician trying to sell my wife two new garage doors when all I needed was a repair. He tried to tell me that the technician told her 4 weeks not 15. So my wife has a reason to lie to me about this? Major fail. The whole experience left me thinking this outfit is shifty. Not sure if they would have dealt with me the same way had I been there when they came buy. There are too many garage door companies in Reno to waste my time. If I wanted new doors I would have asked them to quote those. Rant over.

My garage door wouldn't open so I called Hanson's.
I'll start with the positives: They got back to me quickly, got some guys to my house the next day, the guys were friendly and seemed to know how to work on garage doors.
Now the negatives: From the moment they arrived, these guys were trying to sell me a very expensive new garage door opener, before even diagnosing what was wrong with my existing one. They pushed it a few times, without telling me the price of the new one, why it was worth double what a Home Depot one would cost, or why I even needed it. It felt high pressure, and I just kind of wanted them to leave from that point onward.
The bottom line is that next time my garage door has issues, I'll likely call a different company.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steve C.NV, NV74222Jun 28, 2017
Garage on 2nd home won't open. Tried calling and left messages with Truckee Overhead Door twice, no response over weeks, got a hold of them 3rd try and was told 7-10 business days. Called Hanson and they are coming out right away from Reno. This is the second time this has happened. Service responsiveness = loyalty!
Update - Truckee Overhead Door did rally and call and fix and when I called Hanson 1st am to tell them this had been done, they were very gracious. Even better really.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 98354903Jan 2, 2017
My family was going through a very rough time, and the last thing we needed was house problems or dealing with questionable businesses. In the midst of things I noticed that my (senior citizen) mother's garage door had gotten damaged. Evidently, it got hit from the inside sometime in the past. It had been working for a while, but apparently using it in the damaged state caused a hinge to fail, jamming the door shut. The door panels were a bit smashed, and the horizontal frame rails were clearly dented and tweaked. From the exterior, you could see that the door was bashed a bit, but didn't look too bad cosmetically. I initially called Hanson Overhead Garage Door Service, because they are the company that my father had used in the past to work on the door. The technician who arrived stated that the model door that we have was no longer being made, so replacement parts were not available. The only choice offered to me was to replace the entire door. There was no option presented to perform repairs on the damage. So I asked him to write up an estimate for the work, and the total cost was listed at $1378.77. I wasn't shocked, and I was a bit numb from the current life situation my family is in. Since the technician said it would take two weeks to get parts, I decided I wasn't in a hurry to get the work done. The cost for the service call to this company was $59.95, but no real work was done on this visit.
After contemplating things a bit, I called another company (one that is "Angie's List Certified") to come take a look at things. That company technician showed up within an hour and was able to perform repairs on the door immediately (no waiting). The total cost for the parts and repairs was under $60.
The bottom line is that Hanson was willing to take more than $1300 from a senior citizen when clearly other less expensive options (significantly less expensive!!!) were available. Because of this interaction, I can not recommend Hanson to perform any work in the future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Donald B.Laguna Hills, CA16133Aug 7, 2017
Hanson installed 2 14x16 garage doors for $10,000. We had numerous problems with the doors and had to pay Hanson to fix the problems from day 1. One of the garage doors has never worked reliably and would open all by itself when we were far away from home. Because this is a second home, we are only here for 2 months of a year, and this door has probably only been used 20 to 30 times. Because the problem was intermittent, Hanson couldn't figure out the problem.. Finally, the door wont work at all except that occasionally, it decides to open by itself.
HANSON HAS BEEN DODGING responding to fix this problem and has promised to send someone to fix only to cancel at the last minute. THEN, they say they don't service our area, but they were very happy to say they did service the area when they made the $10,000 sale.
THIS IS NOT A ONE TIME PROBLEM. It appears that the door operator which was highly recommended by Hanson had a problem from day one. We aren't asking that the problem be fixed for free, just for them to come fix it. The liftmaster 8500 garage door opener is apparently not a reliable unit, although the other unit has been working ok. If a company is not willing to stand behind their products, you should shun doing business with them
Do business with these people AT YOUR OWN RISK, BUT NOW YOU ARE FOREWARNED.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Arnold K.Spanish Springs, NV084Dec 8, 2020
They replaced my door opener after checking my old one and determined (?) it needed replacing which I told the installer to do. I had a coupon for $50 off and mentioned it to the installer. He said if I was going to replace the door which we talked about as well, to use the coupon on that work order (bigger savings) since I couldn't combine coupons. The installer said the opener came with a DC battery backup. He didn't have one but said he would tell the Bus. owner to get one. He put a service charge of $65 on the bill even though I was paying to have the opener installed with the cost double from what I wanted to spent. Kinda of a double wammie, a installation charge and a service fee. I could see paying for a service call and not having any work done. Given that I relocated to the area after loosing my home to a wildfire, I was without tools to do the job myself, so I bit the bullet. I also asked for a quote to replace the door since it had stress cracks. The owner was supposed to call me with a price. Never heard back. A week or so later, I called and voiced my concerns about a lack of follow up with the quote and the backup battery. The owner did call back after our conversation when he returned to his bus and left a message about the quote, but no mention of the battery. I let a few weeks go by and called again about the battery....no call back. So, I could have saved some money by buying a replacement door, but the way it's gone, I'm not going back to them for business and I lost out on the coupon savings with way this has played out. The installer DID do a professional job so I was pleased with his work, but any follow-ups as promised, not so much.
