What’s better than one GNCU Reno Aces Hero? Two! 🤩 1️⃣ On May 10, we celebrated Meagan McCarthy, MD, from Reno Orthopedic Center the team physician for the Reno Aces! She completed her Orthopedic Surgery Sports Fellowship at the University of Colorado and her orthopedic surgery residency training at University of San Diego after earning her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. McCarthy specializes in knee and shoulder sports injuries/disorders as well as cartilage preservation. 🦴 2️⃣ On May 11, we celebrated Lacey Carey, an instructional Coach at Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City. She is a lead mentor, ensuring support for new teachers, and is an invaluable member of her school's leadership team. Her dedication to life-long learning is evident as she co-teaches evening courses for teachers to get their GATE endorsements. Lacey is a powerful force, passionate educator and a real Hero in Education! 🎓 As community heroes, you’re not defined by what you do at work, but rather, the work you do defines our community. For that, we are beyond grateful. Be on the lookout for more Community Hero days at the Greater Nevada Field!

Last week, we had the honor of attending But First, Dessert 2024, the premier fundraising event for Eddy House. We helped celebrate its mission of creating a safe environment for homeless and at-risk Nevada youth to develop the life and job skills necessary for sustainable independence. We spent a wonderful evening listening to powerful stories of youth in our community who have been given a second chance at independence. #YouthHomelessness #TogetherWeLiveGreater

Last week, we had so much fun at the Reno Aces Education Day, where we spent time with Mark Twain Elementary School students (Go Hawks!) as a reward for their positive behavior! We spent the first half of the day learning and the second half enjoying some ⚾. #LiveGreater

We had so much fun getting cold for a cause at the South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge on May 4th to help support Special Olympics Nevada in their first independent year! 🧊 Greater Nevada Credit Union proudly supports SONV, a non-profit that provides training, athletic competitions, and education to adults and children with intellectual disabilities, allowing everyone the chance to shine. All participants had to raise a minimum of $125. We are proud to share that we collectively raised nearly $100,000!
